Spread bread cubes in a greased 9x13" baking dish; set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and salt. Stir apple pie filling with a wooden spoon and half of the almonds. Carefully pour apple mixture with a wooden spoon. Sprinkle with remaining almonds. Cover and chill for 2-24 hours.
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Bake, uncovered, about 50 minutes or until the internal temperature registers 170ºF on thermometer. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. Lightly sprinkle cinnamon or powdered sugar before serving.
